I am the husband of one wife, Dahlia Palmer and the Lord has blessed us with one son, Troy. I am a fourth generation Seventh-day Adventist, who comes from a family of denominational employees. My father, Kenneth Palmer, is a retired Superintendent of Education for the Allegheny East Conference of S.D.A. My mother, Pamela Palmer, also served denominationally as a teacher, and served as a member of the Allegheny East Conference’s Executive Committee. My uncle, Dr. J.C. Palmer, also retired, served as Union Evangelist for the West Indies Union.
My educational path to leadership began with earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics at the University of Maryland. I next completed a Masters of Divinity Degree from Andrews University Theological Seminary. I am currently a Ph.D. candidate at Andrews University in Religious Education with a focus on discipleship and christian formation.
My vocational path to leadership began with service as the mathematics teacher at the Dupont Park SDA school in Washington, D.C. It was while serving as as a teacher for grades 6-10 teaching mathematics, algebra and geometry, that my leadership skills began to emerge. I was privileged to present to the teachers throughout the Allegheny East Conference new and interesting ways of presenting mathematics as well as being a presenter at one of their annual teacher's convention. It was while employed as a teacher at the Dupont Park SDA school that the Lord laid an impression on my heart that I was to preach.
While teaching at Dupont Park, I was asked to serve as an elder at the New Life SDA church in Gaithersburg, Md, where I was also ordained. One of the highlights of my ministry at the church was to run a Daniel and Revelation Seminar held at a local school. I would teach in the mornings at school and present in the evenings. The Lord blessed that crusade to baptize 5 brand new Adventists. It was shortly after this series of meetings that God used one of my former pastors, who had been a mentor to me, to impress on me the need to attend Andrews University to receive an M.Div. degree.
It was at the Theological Seminary of Andrews University, that my leadership skills again began to rise to the surface. I was elected BSAS president and served with distinction my one year term. One of the highlights during my time at Andrews University included preaching on Sabbath morning for the 8:00 service at PMC as part of their Black History celebration. Additionally, I was asked to preach a three-week crusade at the Highland Avenue church in Benton Harbor, MI. I began the series of meetings, taking classes in the mornings and preaching in the evenings. The Lord blessed that crusade with 14 baptisms.
After graduating from Andrews University in 1997, I joined the pastoral staff at Berea Temple SDA Church in Baltimore, MD under the leadership of Dr. Jonathan A. Thompson. In 1999, I was asked to serve as the pastor of the Willow Grove SDA church. In 2000, my responsibilities were expanded and I was given the Grace Tabernacle SDA church in Norristown, PA to pastor as well. In 2003, after the dynamic ministry of Elder Tim Lewis in which over 150 were baptized, I was asked to serve as the first pastor of the new congregation formed, called Berean Fellowship SDA church.
Currently I serve as the pastor of the Germantown SDA Church in the city of Philadelphia to which I was called to serve as the Senior Pastor in 2008. I am also the treasurer of the Delaware Valley Ministerium and the treasurer of the Katrina Relief Missions sponsored by the Delaware Valley Ministerium and the Bay Area Ministerium. Archives of recently preached sermons can be found at http://www.praizevision.com/.
Other vocational highlights include my doing training in the areas of discipleship, Sabbath school and community services. A few years ago, I completed an eight-week spiritual boot-camp, training young people to do outreach ministry through small groups. I have been blessed to participate in evangelism in the Gambia, and camp meetings in Tanzania, the Bahamas and Bermuda, as well as preaching in Jamaica.
I believe strongly that young people will be in the forefront as the three angels’ messages are proclaimed for the last time before the second coming of Jesus. There are three things I want you to know, first, I love Jesus, second, I love my family, and third I love the people of God, especially young people.
